Growth Plan
Nonprofit organizations typically grow at an incremental rate, if at all. They may add a small percentage of people served every year. But some organizations have a real solution that could benefit many, many more people. When that is the case, a nonprofit needs to explore a growth planning process that could result in significant growth to the organization and the solution it provides.
The four-phased process Social Velocity takes a nonprofit organization through helps them to determine if they are ready to grow, what they should grow to become, a step-by-step plan for getting to growth, and a funding strategy and pitch to help them raise the growth capital required to implement the plan.
Here are the steps Social Velocity employs in growth planning:
- Determine Options for Growth— Social Velocity guides the nonprofit to understand the external landscape they exist in (competitors, community needs, etc) and determine their options for growth given that landscape.
- Analyze Capacity for Growth— Social Velocity assesses the current capacity of the organization in light of these options for growth, along 6 dimensions:
- Program delivery and impact
- Governance and leadership
- Finances and revenue generation
- External relationships
- Marketing and communications
- Systems, infrastructure and operations
- Create a Plan for Growth— Social Velocity leads the nonprofit through a growth planning process that results in a 3-5 year strategic plan for growth
- Create Capital Pitch and Prospect Strategy— Social Velocity helps the nonprofit create a compelling pitch, prospect strategy, and investor target amounts to raise the money necessary to achieve growth.
